And all that jazz.

Hi I'm Ellen and I can't hula-hoop.

What is time?

As I sit here cramming for my upcoming finals, it’s finally beginning to hit me - the semester is over. I’ve never been good with goodbyes. Taking silly pictures at Tsai today, I realized this was the last time many of us would be in the same room, hanging out and laughing together. Though I have known of my impending departure for quite some time, part of me never accepted that I would have to leave my friends (many of whom are graduating) behind in Boston. Yes I will return in the fall and yes I will have a blast in Shanghai, but that doesn’t seem to make it any less bittersweet.

But this makes me smile a lot.

I’m really craving pumpkin pie and hot apple cider. I think Thanksgiving needs to make a comeback.

tumblrbot asked: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

New Zealand! Who doesn’t want to climb Mount Doom?

Yay tumblr account!

Now the plan is for me to update at least once a week with stories of my grand adventures around China including (but not limited to) all the delicious food I will consume, wonderful places I will visit, crazy people I will meet, and most importantly all the unfortunate language blunders I will commit.

I shall be flying out on Jan 5 from JFK, hopefully with a very brief layover in Toronto (Canada weather please be kind to me), and arriving in Beijing on Jan 6 late at night totally smelly, exhausted, sleep-deprivied but with all my luggage intact (go polka-dot suitcase!). Luckily, I have from then until Feb 9th to become a bum and fatten up before I have to find my way to Fudan University in Shanghai and pull off passing as a functional person. Things will definitely be interesting…
